Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in the year 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This device really impressed lots of customers and therefore, the name was established.
Genie has moved into numerous new markets, as the demand for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, when the demand for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself recognized in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into production with light towers, man-lifts, articulated booms, stick booms and telehandlers.
Due to the economic downturn during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who held the same values. They partnered up with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Because of the Genie name and its solid reputation within the workplace, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was just decided after the first few years following the sale. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC machines are emission-free, quiet machines capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machine must be driven significant distances, such as within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator along with the benefits of a 48V DC equipment.
As opposed to any of the various types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach overall. These machines are great for limited access areas in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These machines deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
