When the time comes to select the proper warehouse truck, it is a good idea to figure out how high you plan to lift your loads, how much you have to raise, how much space you have to work in and how far you want to travel. These factors will really influence your purchasing decision and help decipher what forklift truck is the ideal one out there to meet your needs and meet your whole expectations.
Normal Aisles
Pedestrian stackers are the most inexpensive because these machines are best used in standard width aisles and could complete ordinary warehouse stacking jobs. They are capable of easily lifting cargo of less than 750kg and be able to stack them to heights of around 4.5 metres. One more model called rider stackers can successfully raise cargo to around 6 metres.
Reach trucks are yet another alternative to consider. They give you much greater load and lift capacities and some models come complete with telescopic forks. This feature enables you the ability of stacking pallets two deep. For added flexibility in goods handling, there is a 4-way and a multi-way reach truck which as the name implies, can be driven in four directions. These models are particularly best for handling long and large objects like for instance piping, planks and boards.
Counterbalance trucks are best suited for traveling longer distance and are a great choice for stacking jobs, particularly block stacking. They are also an ideal option for stacking loads which weigh over 2 tonnes and free stacking.
A Tight Squeeze
The aisle space in a high-density storage operation will normally be a lot narrower, whilst the heights can be somewhat higher too. The Man-up telescopic lift trucks are best used in high-bay, narrow aisle stores. They provide the driver or operator a good view of the stacking process. There are other models referred to as man-up combi trucks. These are fairly versatile in that they could be used for both stacking and order-picking jobs. They could be driven all over the warehouse or used in narrow aisles.
