Inventor Jerome Case founded the company of CASE within Racine, when he started the construction of threshing machines. Later the business gained recognition globally as the initial maker of steam engines for its agricultural application. Case had established themselves in the construction equipment business by 1912. They became a producer of road building equipment including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction equipment company through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation during the year 1957. Case had expanded their business by the mid-1990s to become the top maker of medium-sized to light-sized construction machines.
During the year 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This company became responsible for advertising several of the world's top brands of agricultural and construction equipment.
