Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck is available in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is usually used. This model has telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is needed inside warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can maximize available storage space while increasing production.
