Kinds of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machine which enables workers to perform tasks without having to construct a scaffolding. They are used to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common machinery found in factory and warehouse environment also.
Typically, construction lifts provide wheeled and powered bases which are capable of driving to the work place and have a platform on them that is responsible for lifting personnel. There are a lot of various types of lifts and every one is suitable to different jobs and environment.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks or cherry pickers, are built with a long boom which has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where a worker can stand. Normally, bucket trucks are used by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers usually utilize these equipment to prune trees.
Bucket trucks are outfitted with a boom assembly which is mounted on a standard truck, and this means these lifts can travel on roads at regular traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they can effectively service. This is specially important for power companies. For instance, many of these businesses use cherry pickers to raise employees up so they could reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets should be frequently checked and insulated well as they are working near possible shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also known as "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform which is mounted on an arm that is able to bend in order to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are used for landscaping projects and are handy for maintenance work on already-completed projects which do not need easy access to the area right beneath the jobsite. These lifts could be utilized for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and areas which are difficult to clean. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the boom extended.
