Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They could run utilizing liquid propane or LP gas, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for various applications. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders which are able to be changed out when the equipment should be refueled.
So as to prevent possible serious injury, specific safety measures must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. Like for example: be certain to put on the correct safety equipment such as goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Make certain that you turned off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
